Top 5 Tools for Healthier Hair

We’re all on a quest for healthier, shinier, fuller hair, and fortunately, we live in a time where there are countless gadgets and tools to help us achieve just that. However, the abundance of options can be overwhelming, so I’ve narrowed it down to my top 5 tools that will make the biggest impact on the health of your hair.

Silicone Scalp Scrubbers

Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. If you’re a product junkie like me, by the end of the week, your hair is full of more than just secrets. We’re talking dry shampoo, texture spray, hairspray—not to mention natural oils, sweat, and dead skin. Our scalp is not so different from the skin on our face or body; it needs to be cleansed and moisturized regularly.

Especially if you have thick hair, investing in silicone scalp scrubbers is a game-changer. They help break up buildup and give your scalp a thorough cleanse. Plus, they feel amazing and stimulate your scalp, increasing the flow of blood, oxygen, and nutrients, which is essential for healthy hair growth.

Microfiber Towel

A microfiber towel creates significantly less friction (and therefore frizz) when drying your hair. If you have curly hair, a microfiber towel is an absolute must. Microfiber absorbs moisture exceptionally well, pulling water out of your hair without excessive manipulation. Just remember to gently squeeze the water out—no rubbing allowed.

I love applying leave-in conditioner to my ends, then wrapping my hair in a microfiber hair wrap to let it dry a bit before brushing and styling. It’s a simple step that makes a big difference.

Heat-less Curlers

There are so many styles of heat-less curlers on the market now, and it’s easier than ever to wake up looking glamorous. Make sure your hair is damp—not wet—when wrapping it, and avoid using too much tension.

Satin Bonnet

You could swap this for a satin pillowcase, but I find it easier to wear a satin bonnet over my hair. Satin and silk materials create less friction, which helps reduce hair breakage and frizz. It’s also a fantastic way to preserve your hairstyle overnight.

Wet Brush

This might be the most impactful tool you can add to your hair care routine. Almost every hair type can benefit from a wet brush. The flexible bristles glide through your hair, preventing snapping and breakage. Despite its name, you can use this brush on wet or dry hair. I’m a big fan of the Tangle Teezer because it’s much easier to clean than a padded brush.

Incorporating these tools into your routine can make a noticeable difference in the health and appearance of your hair. It's all about finding what works best for your hair type and lifestyle. Remember, healthy hair doesn’t have to be complicated—it just takes a bit of care and the right tools to get there.
